Restore the Luminous is a free-to-play digital trading card game in which every card is unlocked the moment the game is installed. There are no booster packs, no gacha and no cards for sale. Two players duel one on one with decks of 40 to 60 cards, built from a single card pool shared by every leader, with a limit of three copies of any one card and no colour restrictions on deckbuilding. Cards are paid for with LP, a resource that comes in five colours: red, blue, green, yellow and black. At the start of your turn, you gain one LP (up to ten), and all spent LP becomes usable again. To colour-charge, choose a card in your hand and remove it from the game. This changes one colourless LP to that card's colour, so choosing which card to use for colour charge is as much a part of the game as deciding what to play. When your leader takes damage, that many cards move from the top of your deck into the damage zone, reducing your HP. If a revealed card has a Turnover ability and its activation conditions are met, you can choose to activate it without paying its normal card cost. A player loses when their HP reaches zero or they cannot draw because their deck is empty. Your leader evolves on your fourth and seventh turns, unlocking the next stage of its abilities. On each evolution turn, you draw two cards instead of one during the draw phase. All four leaders draw from the same card pool. Each has its own abilities, and the opening hand size, unit slots and counter slots depend on the leader. The same deck therefore plays differently depending on which leader you choose. The game includes solo matches against AI, online 1v1 matchmaking, private friend matches by room ID, and community-run round-robin and bracket tournaments.
